Archiving Policy
Trends in Optimal Medical Outcomes (TOMO) is committed to ensuring that all published content is securely archived and remains freely accessible to readers in perpetuity. This Archiving Policy outlines the steps we take to preserve the integrity and availability of the journal’s content.
1. Digital Preservation and Archiving
- All articles published in TOMO are archived in trusted digital repositories and platforms to ensure their long-term accessibility.
- The journal’s content is stored in collaboration with recognized digital preservation services such as LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) and Portico, ensuring that the articles are preserved and available even if the journal’s primary website becomes temporarily unavailable.
2. Open Access and Access to Published Content
- All articles published in TOMO are freely available to the public under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), allowing unrestricted access and redistribution of the work, provided that proper attribution is given.
- Articles can be downloaded, shared, and redistributed by readers at no cost, promoting the long-term dissemination of knowledge.
3. Self-Archiving Policy
- Authors are encouraged to deposit the final published version of their article (with proper attribution to TOMO) in their institutional repositories, subject to any licensing agreements. The final published version of the article can be freely shared and archived in personal or institutional repositories.
- Authors may also post preprints of their manuscripts on public preprint servers prior to peer review, provided that they comply with relevant copyright and licensing terms.
4. Archiving and Repository Partners
- In addition to LOCKSS and Portico, TOMO supports the archiving of content in other major repositories, such as Google Scholar, PubMed Central, and institutional repositories. These platforms ensure the availability of articles and enhance their discoverability in the academic community.
- We ensure that the content remains available and accessible by regularly verifying its presence in these repositories and taking appropriate steps to re-archive articles when necessary.
5. Retention Period
- Published articles in TOMO are permanently archived and remain publicly accessible in perpetuity. There is no time limit to access the published articles, ensuring long-term availability for future research and reference.
- As part of our commitment to preserving the journal’s content, we regularly monitor and maintain access to archived articles through our digital preservation services.
6. Access to Archived Content
- Archived articles will continue to be freely accessible through the journal's website and other repositories. Should there be any changes to the journal’s web platform or publication model, alternative means of access will be provided, and the content will remain available through the archiving services mentioned above.
7. Ensuring Integrity and Authenticity
- TOMO ensures the integrity of its archived content by maintaining the original published versions of the articles without alteration. Any corrections, retractions, or updates will be clearly indicated in the relevant article record, and the updated versions will be made available alongside the original.
